Pakistan Ambassador pays courtesy call on Agriculture Minister Chaudhary
Pakistan's Ambassador to Nepal Mohammad Aamir Khan has paid a courtesy call on Minister for Agriculture, Forest and Environment Geeta Chaudhary.
The ministry stated that during the meeting, discussions were held on making cooperation between Nepal and Pakistan more effective and practical in areas including climate change, mountain issues, disaster risk reduction, early warning systems, glacier monitoring, agriculture and reconstruction.
On the occasion, Minister Chaudhary said that since Nepal and Pakistan are mountainous countries, the exchange of information, data, technology and experience is important to address common challenges including the impacts of climate change, glaciers and disaster risks. He expressed the view that Nepal is willing to further expand bilateral cooperation in agriculture and other potential areas in the coming days.
Ambassador Khan stated that the Pakistani government is keen to expand practical and concrete cooperation with Nepal following the recent disasters, and expressed the view that experience, technology, and information can be exchanged in the areas of climate change and disaster management.
He said that Pakistan is ready to share its efforts and experiences in post-disaster reconstruction and climate resilient technologies with Nepal. The meeting also discussed how the two countries can collaborate to advance common mountain issues and climate issues at regional and international forums.
Ambassador Khan noted that the Pakistani Prime Minister had expressed concern over the recent disaster in Nepal and informed that Pakistan was ready to cooperate in reconstruction and post-disaster assistance. In addition, the possibilities of trade and economic cooperation, including tea exports from Nepal to Pakistan, were discussed.
